The Ministry for the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council presents an exhibition of the EU Leaders’ messages from their informal dinner in Sofia on the eve of the EU-Western Balkans Summit on 17 May 2018.
The exhibition will be arranged at the National Art Gallery “The Palace” and will be officially opened by the Minister for the Bulgarian Presidency at 2 p.m. on 27 June 2018.
During the dinner at Sofia Tech Park on 16 May upon invitation of the President of the European Council Donald Tusk hosted by Boyko Borisov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, the EU heads of states and governments discussed the opportunities for innovation and digitalization, the deal on the nuclear programme of Iran and the trade relations with the US. In the spirit of contemporary and technological atmosphere of the John Atanasoff Hall they dined at a special table made of ReBoard – a light weight and very robust innovative material. Shortly before the end of the event, the participants wrote their messages on the table.
The handwritten messages of the European leaders will be on display in a consolidated panel expressing respect, well-meaning and friendship. ”To our success!“ - PM Boyko Borisov wrote. French President Emmanuel Macron added: “Et on continue! Благодаря! Thank you! Merci a la Bulgàrie!“. Many of the leaders expressed their hope for a more secure, more united and more solidary Europe. “Through the integration of Europe we are creating a better future for the next generations – shared values, common goals, united Europe!“ - Mateusz Moravetski, PM of Poland wrote. The message of Lithuania’s President Dalia Grybauskaite shared the same spirit: “Unity matters! Thank you very much, Bulgaria!” The message of UK Prime Minister Teresa May was the longest one: “From the invention by John Atanasoff of the computer to the development of the World Wide Web by Tim Berners-Lee, the UK and Bulgaria have been central to the realization of the digital dream. Long may our cooperation continue! “
In addition to the leaders’ messages, photographs from the informal dinner made by the official photographers of the Bulgarian Presidency will also be shown in the exhibition.
The exhibition will be open to the public until 8 July 2018 at the National Art Gallery “The Palace”.
