A conference on Establishing the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) will be held on 26 and 27 March 2018 in Sofia. The conference is organised jointly by the European Commission and the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
The topic is among the main priorities of both the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU and the European Commission. The conference will provide a forum for discussion on issues related to the establishment of the Office and preparation of the Member States that participate in the enhanced cooperation for the forthcoming implementation of the Regulation.
During the Conference, the following issues will be discussed:
- Election and appointment of the EU Chief Public Prosecutor and delegated European Public Prosecutors;
- The consequences of setting up the EPPO, including internal Rules of Procedure, adaptations in national legal systems and cooperation with national authorities;
- Developing a case management system;
- Cooperation with other EU agencies, non-participating Member States and third countries; and
- Training of EPPO staff.
The event will bring together about 90 participants, representing the relevant national authorities of the participating Member States of the European Union, the European Commission, the General Secretariat of the Council, the European Parliament, non-participating Member States, representatives of third countries, Eurojust, OLAF, Europol, and academic circles.
