The Bulgarian National Television (BNT) is the host-broadcaster of footage and sound from the events to be held in Bulgaria during the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The Minister for the Bulgarian Presidency Lilyana Pavlova and the General Director of the public television Konstantin Kamenarov signed a license agreement for copy and neighboring rights for a period of maximum 10 years. One week prior to that, the draft agreement was approved by the Council of Ministers.
The agreement entitles the government to broadcast, publish, reuse the video material from the Presidency in full or parts thereof, to store and distribute it in any way appropriate.
The government may sub-license some of the above rights to third parties without the explicit approval of BNT when that is required for attaining the goals and the mission of the European Union.
Based on that document, an agreement will be signed with the European Commission’s Europe by Satellite. This service will broadcast live all summits and high-level events to be held in Sofia and will offer footage to all media free of charge.
“Yet again, BNT lived up to its mission of a public broadcaster, the operation of which is dedicated to the national interest,” Minister Pavlova said after signing the agreement.
In addition to the role of host-broadcaster, BNT is also working on a weekly special for the Bulgarian Presidency, will make a film on what has been achieved and will be an integral part of the International Press-center’s team for the Presidency.
