Experts discuss in Sofia higher quality of living in cities for over 70% of Europeans

Seventy-one percent of European citizens live in cities, which account for 85 % of gross domestic product (GDP) in the European Union and are the main driver for economic growth, innovation, employment and education. These facts are at the heart of the Urban Agenda for the EU, adopted in 2016 in Amsterdam, which aims to improve the quality of life in cities and works for sustainable and integrated urban development. Progress in the implementation of the Urban Agenda will be a major topic of an expert meeting in Sofia on 1 March organised by the Bulgarian Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works as part of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
